  5. The CLIPBOARD PANEL displays the contents of the  three
  6. text blocks:
  7.  
  8.    the CUT/PASTE/REPLACE buffer
  9.    the DELETE/TEXTOP buffer
  10.    the ALL PURPOSE buffer
  11.  
  12. and three icons:
  13.  
  14.    the DISK (file selector)
  15.    the TRASH CAN
  16.    the SHREDDER
  17.  
  18. The CUT/PASTE/REPLACE buffer is used by the  Cut, Copy,
  19. Paste, Overlay  and  search/replace  operations.    The
  20. DELETE/TEXTOP buffer is used by Delete, Delete Line and
  21. all operations  in  the  TEXT menu.   The  ALL  PURPOSE
  22. buffer is there for the user.

  24. Blocks can be DRAGGED and DROPPED onto  eachother, onto
  25. the disk, trash  can  and  shredder  icons, onto  other
  26. Edith  windows, and  when  using  MultiTOS, also   onto
  27. windows  belonging  to   other  applications  such   as
  28. MINIWIN.

  30. Drag a block onto the  disk icon to save a  block; drag
  31. the disk icon onto  a block to load  it.  Drag a  block
  32. onto the trash can to move  it to the trash can.   Drag
  33. anything onto the shredder to permanently discard it.

  35. DOUBLE CLICK on a text block  or the trash can to  open
  36. it into a window.

  38. ** The upper two  text blocks are  marked with a  small
  39.    black dot  when  the  information  they  contain  is
  40.    `vital', which is to say that if that information is
  41.    lost, it cannot be found  elsewhere.  When MOVE  OLD
  42.    BUFFERS TO  TRASH  CAN  is selected  in  the  EDITOR
  43.    OPTIONS dialog,  vital  data is automatically  saved
  44.    to the trash can whenever it is overwritten.

  46. ** The trash  can window  is editable; the  text  block
  47.    windows are read-only.
